Internships help students gain valuable ‘real world’ experience and help students build confidence, and become gainfully employed. We recommend that every student do at least one internship while studying art and design at Stevenson. Getting work experience outside the classroom can land your resume at the top of the pile when applying for positions, and internships may lead to full-time employment. Students should plan ahead to get the most out of their internship experience.

Stevenson art students do all kinds of great internships. Many students do more than one; some do three. These experiences help students identify what they want to do (and what they don’t) by allowing them to “try-on” different employment setting or responsibilities during a short-term commitment. Students are encouraged to do internships that relate to their career and personal aspirations in areas such as graphic design, web design, environmental design, packaging design, interior design, photography, illustration, video or television graphics, gallery or museum work, art education, and more.
